City

It’s been a busy year in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The city fought its way through lengthy budget hearings, contentious council arguments over spending, and debated how to negotiate rising utility rates and the rising cost of living in Berkshire County’s largest city. WAMC spoke with city council president and councilor at large Peter Marchetti about the year that was – and the challenges of the year to come. Marchetti has served 11 non-consecutive years on the council, three of those as president.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018 after working at stations including WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Berkshire County, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. You can reach him at jlandes@wamc.org with questions, tips, and/or feedback.
