Scam Advisory: We have been made aware that an online entity is posing as Joe Donahue to invite authors and other creatives onto our radio shows. The scammers then attempt to charge guests an appearance fee for exposure/publicity.

Inaugural Berkshire Jazz Showcase Celebrates Local Talent

The first Berkshire Jazz Showcase will bring local talent to the Pittsfield Common Saturday.

Ed Bride, President of Berkshires Jazz, says the free concert is an opportunity to highlight unheralded local talent.

“Five different types of genres — vocal, instrumental, modern, traditional, gypsy nuages with Django sounds, something for everybody,” he told WAMC.

The bands are The Lucky 5, Andy Kelly Gypsy Jazz, Gruppo Mondo, Jason Ennis and Friends, and the Ben Kohn Trio. The showcase begins at 1 p.m. The Zion Lutheran Church is the backup rain location.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018 after working at stations including WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Berkshire County, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. You can reach him at jlandes@wamc.org with questions, tips, and/or feedback.
