A Springfield, Massachusetts man has been indicted on 52 charges including three counts of murder.

A Hampden County Grand Jury late Thursday returned the 52 count indictment against Stewart Weldon.

The office of Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said in a press release that the actions Weldon is alleged to have committed including murder, rape, assault, attempted rape and kidnapping stretch over a year’s time and involve 11 different victims.

Springfield Police began investigating Weldon after a traffic stop in late May when a woman found in his car told officers she’d been beaten and held captive.

Police searched the home where Weldon lived with his mother and found the bodies of three women.

Since his arrest Weldon has been held on $2 million bail.
