Pittsfield Revitalization Project To Recieve State Funding In 2019 Budget

JD Allen / WAMC News

Massachusetts State Representative Tricia Farley-Bouvier says she’s secured funding for a Pittsfield revitalization project.

Farley-Bouvier, a Democrat from Pittsfield, tells WAMC that she’s secured funding in the House budget for an effort to turn a former church into an apartment complex. The building that was formerly St. Mary the Morning Star will become the Morning Star Residence.

“That property is really an anchor of the Tyler Street transformative development initiative," Farley-Bouvier told WAMC.

The CT Management Group is working with Mass Development and City Hall on the development. It purchased the building in December 2017 for $500,000 from the Catholic Diocese of Springfield.
