The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office is hosting a vigil this weekend to draw attention to the dangers of drunk driving.

The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office and Mothers Against Drunk Driving are sponsoring a candlelight vigil Sunday to remember people who have been killed as a result of drunk driving.

While the number of serious traffic collisions is down in the Berkshires, there are about 130 drunk driving-related deaths statewide a year. Pittsfield has one of the highest rates of binge drinking in Massachusetts.

First Assistant District Attorney Paul Caccaviello will be the main speaker. Members of the Massachusetts State Police will participate in the ceremony.

The Vigil of Remembrance starts at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen’s Church and Park Square in Pittsfield.
