New Fairfield "Family Man" Receives Stay Of Deportation

Facebook: Joel Colindres

A New Fairfield, Connecticut resident federal immigration officials told to leave the country later this month has been granted a stay of deportation.

Joel Colindres was given a deportation order to leave by August 17th.

Last week, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal and Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty, of the 5th House District, rallied behind Colindres’ request for a six-month stay of deportation so he could prove his marriage is valid.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement now says it will allow Colindres to remain in the country while the court considers new evidence in his case.

Senator Chris Murphy, who announced the development Thursday, has called on the Trump administration to put an end to “costly, mean-spirited [immigration] policies.”
