National Grid's Plan To Run Power Line Through MA, NY Towns

National Grid wants to run another power line through seven towns in Western Massachusetts and New York.

National Grid says the 23-mile, 600-megawatt line will run through Nassau and Stephentown, New York, into Berkshire County through Hancock, Lanesborough, Cheshire, Dalton and Hinsdale. Most of the project is along existing lines.

It will be powered by wind and hydropower in New York.

It’s the same path as Kinder Morgan’s scuttled Northeast Energy Direct Project.

Part of the plan includes Granite State Power Link, which wants to bring power in from Canada.

If permitted, construction would begin in 2020.
