A bridge in Cheshire, Massachusetts needs further repairs.

The town used Chapter 90 highway funding to make a partial repair to a bridge on Sand Mill Road two years ago. It was closed by the state when residents complained about the extended commute.

The project was recently finished.

Cheshire received a letter Monday from the engineering firm that oversaw the repair project, Foresight Engineering, saying more work may be needed.

Officials say the town made minor repairs in hopes of making the state’s list for full repairs.

Officials are concerned the state might entirely close the second bridge segment, because it too is in need of repairs. There are five homes between the two bridges.
