Pittsfield is going back to the drawing board to prepare its Community Development Block Grant plan for the next fiscal year.

The city council disagrees on spending $50,000 to fix the Capitol theatre marquee outside the Ralph Froio Senior Center in downtown Pittsfield.

The motion was sent to the Community Development Committee, which voted to remove the $50,000 allocated in the CDBG funding to fix the marquee.

But at a Tuesday meeting, the city council voted to send the plan back to the mayor’s office to reallocate the funds.

Opponents said CDBG funds could be better spent on housing and infrastructure improvements.

There is roughly $150,000 already allocated in the city’s capital budget to fix the marquee.
