Survey Finds Financial, Health Problems Top Negative Impacts Of Gambling

        A new study finds financial and health problems are the most common negative impacts of gambling.

        A UMass Amherst-led research team conducted a survey of more than 5,000 Massachusetts residents as part of an extensive study into the consequences of introducing casino gambling in the state.  The new report was presented last week to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. 

        WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with one of the lead researchers, Dr. Rachel Volberg of the UMass Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences.
