The group that works to resettle refugees in Vermont is opening an office in Rutland and is looking to hire staff ahead of the expected arrival of up to 100 mostly Syrian refugees.
Amila Merdzanovic of the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program says they've identified a spot for a downtown office, but they have not yet signed a lease. The group is also in the process of recruiting people to fill three full-time positions in Rutland.

The Rutland Herald reports the process of locating specific families for resettlement in Rutland will begin in the next several days, but the first families aren't expected to arrive until next month at the earliest.

Officials aren't sure if the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump will change the country's refugee policy.
