The Burlington teachers union is asking the school board to continue negotiating after the board adopted a one-year employment policy.
The Burlington School Board voted for the resolution last week, ending contract negotiations with the Burlington Education Association for the current fiscal year. The union voted on Tuesday to reject the imposed working conditions.

Under the imposed conditions, teacher pay would increase 2.75 percent. Teachers say they would accept a 3.25 percent increase.

Union President Fran Brock says the board should reach an agreement with teachers.

Chairman Mark Porter says the board has no planned meetings to discuss the union's decision.
