Pittsfield Mayor Linda Tyer is not making any endorsements in the primary races for the area’s state senate and representative seats. She is, however, being open about whom she is personally supporting.Tyer, a Democrat, is supporting Adam Hinds in the race for the seat held by retiring State Senator Ben Downing. Tyer says Hinds’ background, including creating an anti-youth violence program in Pittsfield, perfectly positions him to be a state senator.

“I happen to think that his moderate positions align with mine and so that’s why I’m supporting him,” said Tyer.

Hinds is facing Andrea Harrington and Rinaldo Del Gallo in Thursday’s Democratic primary. Tyer says she will vote for State Representative Tricia Farley-Bouvier, who is facing a challenge from Democrat Mike Bloomberg.

Jim was WAMC’s Assistant News Director and hosted WAMC's flagship news programs: Midday Magazine, Northeast Report and Northeast Report Late Edition.
