A New York City woman was murdered over the weekend while jogging in the central Massachusetts town of Princeton.
A State Police K-9 unit Sunday night found the body of 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte in woods about a half-mile from her mother’s house.
Worcester District Attorney Joe Early said the woman’s family reported her missing after she went out jogging alone about 1 p.m. Sunday and did not return for several hours.
" We do believe this is a homicide," said Early, who added " We can not tell whether or not this was a random act at this point, so we are asking the residents of Princeton and surrounding towns to be a bit vigilent."
Marcotte grew up in Leominster, Massachusetts. She graduated from Boston University in 2011. She was employed by Google as an account manager.
