A western Massachusetts state senate candidate released his economic development platform during a tour of area businesses Tuesday.Adam Hinds visited the Greylock Mill redevelopment project in North Adams and the novelty gift manufacturer Blue Q in Pittsfield releasing a six-point economic plan. Instead of trying to attract a large employer, the Democrat says the focus should be helping small and medium-size businesses grow.

“That means addressing things like addressing strategic workforce development and improving our critical infrastructure,” said Hinds.

Richmond attorney Andrea Harrington is also running while Pittsfield lawyer Rinaldo Del Gallo is considering a full-out bid. Both are Democrats. Christine Canning of Lanesborough is running as a Republican. Democratic Senator Ben Downing is retiring after a decade.
