Farmers' Markets Opening For New Seasons

Tents at a farmers' market keep the merchandise dry

The new season for farmers’ markets is beginning in the northeast.

The Farmers’ Market at Forest Park in Springfield, Massachusetts opened today to begin its 19th year.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill visited the market and spoke with manager Belle Rita Novak.

The market is open every Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  through October 25th.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
