The North Adams School Committee is meeting tonight to discuss its two superintendent candidates.Stephen Donovan, superintendent of the Acushnet Public Schools and Barbara Malkas, superintendent of the Webster Public Schools, are the two finalists for the North Adams post. Both visited the schools and were interviewed by the committee earlier this month. Committee chair Mayor Richard Alcombright is hopeful a decision can be made Monday.

“Both have superintendence and administrative experience of about 10 years so I think we’re in a good place,” said Alcombright.

North Adams Superintendent James Montepare is retiring after more than 40 years with the district.

The committee meeting starts at 6:30 at City Hall.
