The Berkshire District Attorney’s office has released details on the summer 2015 deaths of a Pittsfield father and his 11-year-old daughter.Based on an investigation by Pittsfield Police and findings of a medical examiner, 47-year-old Anthony Nazareth died of a heroin overdose a day or two before his body was found in his Plunkett Street apartment August 3rd. Hannah Nazareth likely died a month earlier, but the cause of death is undetermined due mainly to the decomposition of her body.
The investigation revealed that Anthony misled a number of agencies and individuals about Hannah’s whereabouts in July, but none of them followed up. Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless said in a statement Monday that Hannah was failed by a number of people. He says there’s no indication different action may have saved Hannah, but her dignity in death was not honored and questions will always remain about how and why she died.
The district attorney’s office says the investigation lead to arrest warrants to two people for larceny of Anthony Nazareth’s property. Michael Blowe, 52, of Pittsfield, was arrested over the weekend. He had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf for breaking and entering and larceny. It’s alleged Blowe took a television, DVD player, clothes, food and Anthony Nazareth’s wallet from Nazareth’s apartment Aug. 2nd. Blowe is being held on $1,000 bail.
