Next week, Linda Tyer will be sworn in as the mayor of Pittsfield, taking over for Dan Bianchi, who has led the city for the past four years. Bianchi, a Democrat, served five terms as a city councilor before being elected mayor in 2011. He was reelected in 2013 running unopposed. In the first part of a two-part interview, Bianchi speaks with WAMC’s Berkshire Bureau Chief Jim Levulis about the past four years.

In response to Bianchi’s comments, Kevin Moran of The Berkshire Eagle says “the outgoing mayor's fixation with bashing the local media has been a great waste of his time and his energy,” Moran writes. “While we have broad shoulders, it is sad that he's spent the past four years tilting at windmills.”
