With the first week of December already past, some Northeasterners are beginning to wonder: Where's winter?
New England ski areas are making snow but want Mother Nature to chip in.

A spokeswoman for the Vermont Ski Areas Association says they need snow in cities to the south to get people in the mood for skiing and snowboarding.

Buffalo, New York, has already gone the latest on record into a winter season without measurable snow. In Vermont, Burlington could soon join it with a similar record.

In Maine, an outdoor sports business owner says he's anxious, but not panicked yet.

While in neighboring New Hampshire, a snowmobiling club official says the ground needs to be frozen to ensure a great snowmobiling season — and it's nowhere near frozen yet.
