Community Health Programs CEO Resigns Amid Complaints

Facebook: Community Health Programs

The CEO of the Great Barrington-based Community Health Programs has resigned following complaints about the organization’s leadership.

Bryan Ayars will remain with CHP through November to assist in the transition to new management. Ayars has been CEO since 2009. The move comes amid claims that patient care could be compromised due to concerns over leadership and a strained work environment.

An article in the online publication The Berkshire Edge reports a group of CHP physicians recently sent a letter to the federal agency that funds and oversees the organization explaining that they have no confidence in Ayars or the board of directors. A former employee has also filed a discrimination complaint against the CEO.

In a letter to staff members, Ayars says his decision to leave comes after months of consideration over CHP’s future, not any recent employee complaints.
