The Vermont Agency of Agriculture has set a new date for a public hearing on a revised decision on a plan to reduce phosphorus-laden runoff from farms in northern Vermont's Missisquoi River basin.
The hearing will be held on Nov. 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion in St. Albans.

Agency Secretary Chuck Ross previously rejected a petition filed by an environmental group last year that called on him to require the roughly 400 farmers in the basin to adopt "best management practices" for reducing polluted runoff.

Conservation Law Foundation appealed the secretary's rejection to the state environmental court. Under an agreement signed last month, Ross said he will issue a revised decision following the public hearing.
