A gas pipeline project in western Vermont is going to cost $20 million less than the last estimate.
The Vermont Public Service Department reached an agreement Wednesday with Vermont Gas Systems Inc. regarding the Addison County Natural Gas Pipeline.

Earlier this year, Vermont Gas said the price tag had gone from $86 million to nearly $154 million. The agreement says the maximum costs the company may seek to recover will be $134 million. The department said the only exceptions to the cap are if there are delays to the project beyond the control of Vermont Gas.

Don Rendall, company president and CEO, said it is near completion of the segment through Colchester, Essex and Williston, which will achieve its 2015 goal on time and on budget.
