Vermont Supervisory Union Seeks Public Input

Two central Vermont school supervisory unions have already begun the process of merging and officials want input to help plan the future of education in the new unified supervisory union.

Vermont Public Radio reports (http://bit.ly/1j6mtK6 ) the new White River Valley Supervisory Union is holding a public forum Sunday afternoon at Vermont Law School in Royalton.

Officials say they hope the event spurs discussion to help craft a strategic plan that will guide education made by the union in the coming years.

The state Board of Education is dissolving the Windsor Northwest Supervisory Union due to decreasing enrollment numbers. The towns of Bethel, Rochester, Stockbridge, Granville and Hancock are merging with the neighboring Orange Windsor Supervisory Union to form the new union.

The two unions are still functioning separately during a transition year. They will be fully merged in July.
