Minter Talks About Her Decision To Join Race For Vermont Governor

Vermont Agency of Transportation
Sue Minter

Today is the last day of work for Vermont Agency of Transportation Secretary Sue Minter, who announced her resignation on Thursday. That’s because Minter is the latest to join the growing field of gubernatorial hopefuls. A member of the administration since 2011, Minter is looking to succeed fellow Democrat Peter Shumlin, who is not seeking a fourth term. Minter joins House Speaker Shap Smith and former state legislator Matthew Dunne in the Democratic field. Minter tells WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley she’s ready for higher office.
That’s outgoing Vermont Agency of Transportation Secretary Sue Minter speaking with WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley. This week, Minter joined House Speaker Shap Smith and former state legislator Matthew Dunne in the Democratic field for governor in 2016. Republicans Bruce Lisman and Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott are also running.
