Berkshire Health Systems is opening an urgent care center in Pittsfield later this week.BHS Urgent Care will be open seven days a week including most holidays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 505 East Street in Pittsfield. Chairman of Emergency Medicine Dr. Ron Hayden says emergency department physicians and other staff will be able to treat minor illnesses and conditions.

“Minor injuries in terms of a sprain or cut,” Hayden explained. “Even if they are worried about a fractured wrist or ankle we would have the capacity to take care of that.”

The center offers blood work and X-rays. BHS opened a walk-in center inside Pittsfield’s Market 32 store in April. The urgent care center opens Wednesday. There’s an open house from 2 to 6 Tuesday.
