Artist and real estate developer Eric Rudd is up against two candidates who share a combined total of 32 years as mayor of North Adams. John Barrett logged 26 of those years before being ousted by current Mayor Richard Alcombright in 2009. Rudd, who ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 1997 and has supported Alcombright, is touting himself as a creative thinker whose redeveloped mill buildings into art galleries and condos. Rudd spoke with WAMC’s Berkshire Bureau Chief Jim Levulis about his ideas for North Adams.
The three candidates are heading into a preliminary election September 22nd to determine which two will advance to November’s ballot. Click here for more coverage of North Adams’ mayoral race.
