Update: Pittsfield Shooting Suspect Arrested In Utica

Update: Around 3 p.m. Sunday, the Berkshire District Attorney’s office announced 18-year-old Thomas Lee Newman Jr. of Pittsfield was arrested in Utica, NY. Law enforcement task force members including Utica and federal investigators made the arrest.

Newman will face a charge of being a fugitive from justice in Utica Monday. Berkshire County law enforcement will seek his rendition to Pittsfield where he will be charged with murder and armed assault with intent to commit murder, according to the Berkshire DA’s office. 

Authorities in Berkshire County are looking for a suspect charged in connection to a fatal Pittsfield shooting Friday afternoon.

District Attorney David Capeless says an arrest warrant has been issued for 18-year-old Thomas Lee Newman, Jr. of Pittsfield.

The warrant charges Newman  with one count of murder and one count of armed assault with intent to commit murder.

Eighteen-year-old Keenan Pellot, Jr. died after the Friday shooting. A 17-year-old man is in guarded condition at Berkshire Medical Center and is expected to survive.

As the investigation continues, anyone with any information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Pittsfield Police Department at 413-448-9700.
