Pittsfield's Gang Prevention Coordinator Picked To Held Berkshire Social Agency

City of Pittsfield
Adam Hinds will start as the executive director of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition Sept. 1.

The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition has picked Pittsfield’s gang and youth violence prevention coordinator to be its next executive director.

Adam Hinds will start with NBCC September 1, the organization and Pittsfield Mayor Dan Bianchi announced Friday. Hinds spent about a year coordinating Pittsfield’s Shannon Grant program developing Pittsfield Community Connection, a youth outreach initiative. Hinds, a former United Nations conflict mitigator, will remain active with PCC.

Mayor Bianchi says he sees Pittsfield’s Shannon Grant programs extending beyond the city with Hinds joining NBCC. The move comes at a time when Pittsfield residents have called for more community action following deadly July 4th shootings that injured four others.

Al Bashevkin stepped down as executive director earlier this year after nearly three decades with NBCC.

Jim was WAMC’s Assistant News Director and hosted WAMC's flagship news programs: Midday Magazine, Northeast Report and Northeast Report Late Edition.
