State Report Says More People Visiting Hartford Riverfront

Connecticut development officials say more people are using Hartford's riverfront. The state Department of Economic and Community Development says its study shows more than 897,000 people visited the riverfront last year, up 12 percent from 2013.The economic impact study concluded that Riverfront Recapture, which manages and promotes events in the parks along the Connecticut River in Hartford and East Hartford, has had "significant, positive impact" on the state's economy, pumping $7.25 million into
Connecticut’s gross domestic product.

According to the report there were 37 public events along the riverfront in Hartford and East Hartford in 2014, drawing nearly 350,000 people to the area.

The study did not include private events along the riverfront.
