Alcohol Sales Ban Proposed In Vermont

Two Vermont lawmakers have filed legislation to ban the sale of alcohol in Vermont.

Progressive Representative Chris Pearson and Democrat Jean O'Sullivan, both of Burlington, have introduced legislation to ban alcohol sales.

Pearson says he’s in a unique situation as he files the bill.  “I’m introducing a bill I don’t support. But we wanted to highlight how we treat alcohol vs. marijuana. The same logic that tells us it would be absurd to ban the sale of alcohol ought to be what we apply to marijuana.”

Pearson said as of Wednesday he and O’Sullivan were the only sponsors of the bill.
