2 Wesleyan Students Expelled Following Molly Drug Arrests

Wesleyan University says two of the five students arrested on drug charges following a rash of on-campus overdoses have been expelled. Vice President for Student Affairs Michael Whaley says in a campus-wide letter issued Monday the judicial process is continuing for the other three students, who are suspended.A dozen people were hospitalized over one weekend in late February after taking a drug that was presented as Molly, a popular name for the euphoria-inducing stimulant MDMA.

Whaley says the private liberal arts university of 3,200 students in Middletown, Connecticut, is looking into possible changes to campus drug policies. He says a task force made of students, faculty members, parents and others will gather data over the summer and present recommendations to the university administration before the end of the fall term.
