The town of Lanesborough plans to interview the three people vying to be the community’s next police chief this Thursday. The town hopes to hire the next leader of its 14 full and part-time officer department in early May. Sergeant Erik Josephson of St. Albans, Vermont, Detective Chelsea Tovar of Richmond, Virginia and Lanesborough investigator Timothy Sorrel were the only three candidates to apply for the job currently held by Chief Mark Bashara. Town Administrator Paul Sieloff serves on the five-member police advisory commission.
“All three candidates seem very strong to me on paper until we meet them,” Sieloff said. “We’ll be doing that this coming Thursday.”
After nearly three decades on the force, Chief Bashara plans to retire in mid-May. Candidate interviews start at 4 p.m. Thursday at Lanesborough Town Hall and are open to the public.
