Travelers, Communities Adjusting For Storm Ahead Of Thanksgiving

wikipedia.org

Thanksgiving travelers, communities, and utility and transportation companies are preparing for a busy and possibly messy extended holiday weekend. A winter storm could dump up to a foot of snow on parts of the interior Northeast just as many are expected to hit the roads.Expecting 150,000 passengers between now and Monday, Peter Pan Bus Lines is urging customers to arrive at stations 45 minutes early. Meanwhile, by way of automated phone calls, the North Adams’ department of tourism has already pulled the plug on its tree lighting ceremonies.

“Please know that due to the impending storm forecasted for Wednesday, the downtown holiday tree lighting ceremonies are cancelled,” the message reads. “Tree lighting ceremonies will instead be held on Wednesday, December 3rd at 6 p.m.”

Western Massachusetts Electric Company says it is prepared to respond to any power outages during a storm expected to continue through Thursday. Connecticut state offices will close at 12:30 Wednesday.
