The man charged in the murder of an elderly woman in North Adams, Massachusetts last year has pleaded guilty and has been ordered to a life sentence.Forty-two-year-old David Delratez pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and larceny of a motor vehicle in connection with the death of 84-year-old Ellen DePaoli of North Adams Tuesday afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court. Police found DePaoli’s body with a number of stab wounds in her Walker Street home in September 2013 sending shockwaves through the Berkshires.
Delratez initially denied the charges cited in police reports saying he “loved that old woman.” Judge John Agostini ordered Delratez serve a life sentence.
According to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, Delratez will be eligible for parole in 15 years.
