Vermont Governor Criticizes GOP Challenger

milneforvermont.org/Shumlin for Governor

Democratic Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin says his Republican challenger Scott Milne has it wrong when he says he wants to be a "boring" leader who doesn't want to make big changes.

Shumlin says the job of governor is to lead, make tough decisions and invest in jobs and economic opportunity.

Shumlin, seeking his third, two-year term, made the comments Monday in an interview with The Associated Press.

Milne spoke of being a boring governor during a recent debate.

Shumlin said he's concerned that Milne wants to be governor but "seems to have no idea what he would do when he gets there."

Shumlin says the governor has to have a plan, know where he's going and lead with a mixture of enthusiasm and clarity.

Milne did not immediately respond to the comments.
