Classes Resume At MCLA Following Bomb Threat

Facebook: Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts

Classes have resumed at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts after a bomb threat Monday morning shut down the North Adams campus.North Adams Police dispatchers say they received a call at 9:43 Monday morning and the campus was evacuated shortly thereafter. About 1,500 students, faculty and staff were directed to the North Adams Armory as police closed campus roads and checked campus buildings.

Police told local media outlets the caller said two bombs were to go off at 10:30 a.m saying “good luck” before hanging up. MCLA says the campus had been evacuated by then.

Classes resumed at 2 p.m.

North Adams police are investigating. It’s believed the call originated from an area near the college’s Townhouse dormitories on Ashland St.

Monday’s incident is not believed to be connected to a similar event last April.
