A July court hearing has been scheduled to potentially finalize the sale of the former North Adams Regional Hospital facility. It abruptly closed March 28th.Parent company Northern Berkshire Healthcare filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy six days later putting more than 500 people out of work.

The Berkshire Eagle reports a U.S. Bankruptcy court clerk says a federal judge will entertain a motion to close the bidding July 31 and award the sale to the highest bidder. If the bid is accepted, a closing date will follow. So far the only bid is a $4 million offer from Berkshire Health Systems, parent company of Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

“There was cited an additional $10 million worth of improvements and upgrades that would be needed to all facilities that were under the Northern Berkshire Healthcare domain,” said BMC spokesman Michael Leary.

BMC opened an emergency satellite facility at the North Adams hospital campus May 19th.
