Vermont Official Says Lawmakers Want Too Many Reports

WAMC/Pat Bradley

A top health care aide to Governor Peter Shumlin says Vermont lawmakers may be demanding too much information too fast from her office.

Director of Health Care Reform Robin Lunge told the House Health Care Committee on Wednesday that requests for information from the committee could require her three-person office to produce 21 reports between now and January.

Lunge says her office already has a very heavy workload as it prepares for the launch of the Green Mountain Care universal health care system.

Committee members agreed they're likely to streamline their information requests. But Rep. Chris Pearson, a Burlington Progressive, says the panel needs information to maintain its independence from the administration and provide a solid critique of its progress.
