Paki Wieland

A peace activist from Northampton, Massachusetts is part of a delegation of 100 women who are traveling to Gaza for International Women’s Day on March 8th.   Paki Wieland was just released from a jail in New York. She was among a group of a dozen people convicted of disorderly conduct as a result of a protest outside the Hancock Air National Guard Base.    WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Wieland about the air base protest and the trip to Gaza.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
