The 17th annual North Adams Winterfest is Saturday.
The winter event draws about 1,500 people each year. City tourism director Veronica Bosley says the festivities get started at 10 a.m. with a crowd favorite.
“We do ice sculpting where huge, giant blocks of ice are delivered to Main St.,” Bosley said. “Brave sculptors, not all of them artists per say, set out and sculpt things throughout the course of the day.”
At 10:30 a.m. a run-walk will take advantage of the city’s new downtown walking loop. For those looking to warm up, chowder tasting begins at noon. It all wraps up with a community skate at the North Adams Skating Rink from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
