MA Changes Approach On Health Website Fixes

wikipedia.org

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has altered the state’s course in its attempts to fix its problem-plagued health insurance website.

Sarah Iselin will take a four-month leave of absence from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts to serve as the governor’s go-to in fixing the website. The state has also contracted technology firm Optum to serve in an advisory role. Iselin says the Health Connector will keep its contract with its IT vendor CGI for now.

“We’ve got them [CGI] on a pretty short leash right now,” said Iselin.

Governor Patrick also relieved UMass Medical School of its role in overseeing CGI’s $69 million state contract. Iselin and other members of the administration will meet with federal officials Friday to discuss the possibility of extending a March 31 deadline to fully transition from the state’s health care law to the federal one.
