Berkshire-Based Group Brings Home GRAMMY

A musical group who makes its creative home at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts is now a GRAMMY award winner.

Roomful of Teeth was chosen as the winner in the category of Chamber Music and Small Ensemble Performance at Sunday’s night’s ceremony. Founded in 2009, the eight person vocal group combines elements of rock, pop and folk into a classical music composition. Accepting the award was founder and artistic director Brad Wells who is the Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Williams College.

“There’s an easy access for people regardless of whether they’re very sophisticated classical listeners or barely ever listen to classical music,” said Wells.

The group also performed at the GRAMMY Awards. The self-titled album is the group’s first.
