Citing witness statements, police say the car jumped the curb, causing it to go airborne. It then struck this tree before continuing into the concrete wall.

Two men are dead after a car they were in crashed into Pittsfield High School Tuesday afternoon.

Pittsfield Police say 37-year old Ernest Duck Jr. and 34-year old Tariq Salley were pronounced dead late Tuesday. The 2013 white Nissan Altima they were in slammed into a concrete wall in front of the school around 3 p.m. Tuesday. Police are investigating all possible causes, but cite witness reports of erratic driving prior the accident. Captain David Granger says the car was traveling on Second Street and crossed over the intersecting East Street, which runs parallel in front of the school. Granger says the car hit the curb, causing it to go airborne. It then struck a tree and continued about 50 feet before slamming into the wall. People were in the school yard when the car crashed, but none were injured.
