VT Fish & Wildlife Reminds of Later Deer Seasons

The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife is reminding the state's deer hunters that this year's firearms' seasons are later than in most years.

Youth weekend is Nov. 9 -10 while rifle season begins No. 16, both one weekend later than normal.

Muzzleloader season begins Dec. 7.

The November rifle deer hunting season and youth weekend dates are set by law and revolve around Thanksgiving.

Nearly two weeks will have elapsed between the close of archery season and youth weekend this year. Normally the gap is less than a week.

The state's chief game warden, Col. Dave LeCours, says some hunters have been confused about the dates.
