The Massachusetts economy added 7,500 jobs in August, but the state’s unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.2 percent.

Analysts have described the Massachusetts economy as stagnant. Before August, there were two consecutive months of job losses and the unemployment rate rose in each of the previous three months. Kevin Lynn at the Future Works Career Center in Springfield where job postings by employers fell 20 percent in August, said job seekers remain frustrated.

The Massachusetts Office of Labor and Workforce Development reported 6,700 private sector jobs were added last month in areas such as healthcare, education, and financial services.
