Groups To Lobby Massachusetts Lawmakers For Transit Bills

A coalition of transit riders, community leaders and activists plans to lobby Massachusetts legislators Wednesday.

The coalition, called the Public Transit-Public Good campaign is urging people to telephone their state representatives and the office of Speaker DeLeo to urge support for two bills.  One would bring new revenue to transit authorities and lower fares for seniors, students and the poor, according to Linda Stone , an organizer with the Massachusetts Senior Action Council.

A second bill pending in the legislature would require a regular transit rider and a representative of organizer labor serve on transit authority boards
