A 23-year-old Vermont man is being held on charges stemming from a crash that killed a 17-year-old girl in Rutland.
Police say Alex Spanos of Rutland was inhaling chemicals before his car went off the road Wednesday and into a parked car, pushing it into 17-year-old Carly Ferro, a pedestrian who had just walked out of a store.
Ferro died in the hospital. Her father, who was in parked car, was hospitalized with a head injury.
Spanos pleaded not guilty Friday to manslaughter and other charges for his role in the crash that killed Ferro.
Two other vehicles also were hit and two passengers in Spanos' car were injured.
The Rutland Herald reports Spanos was ordered held for lack of $200,000 bail.
