Plans are in motion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Festival in Sullivan County. Full details of the event lineup will be released soon. WAMC’s Allison Dunne reports the event isn’t associated with the producers of the original concert.

The 2019 event celebrating the golden anniversary of the iconic music festival will take place at the original site of the Woodstock concert in Bethel, New York. Nonprofit Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, entertainment company Live Nation, and INVNT announced on Thursday that the Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival will take place August 16-18. Meantime, Sullivan County officials have revealed the three dozen fiberglass doves that will find their perches throughout the county for the Woodstock anniversary. As part of the Dove Trail Project, doves will be painted emphasizing the colors and themes of the 1960s, and a Dove Trail Planning Committee will begin reviewing proposals in January.
