The archbishop of New York visited workers at a bypass tunnel construction project in the Hudson Valley this week.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan visited workers at the Delaware Aqueduct bypass tunnel Wednesday to provide a blessing and underscore the importance of workplace safety. Dolan visited the construction site in Newburgh where more than 100 people are working on a $1 billion project to repair the 85-mile Delaware Aqueduct, the longest tunnel in the world. The aqueduct delivers about 50 percent of New York City’s water from reservoirs in the Catskill Mountains. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection is overseeing the largest repair effort in its history. Dolan was the honored guest for national safety week at construction sites.
